Privacy Policy
Effective .
This policy explains how ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects information when you use the Requinto From Zero website and app, including every instrument course (the "Service").
Information we collect
- Account: your email address, and your name if you add one.
- Membership and payments: your plan, subscription status and billing dates. Payments are handled by Stripe, which collects your payment details directly. We never receive your full card number.
- Consent records: when you agree to automatic renewal and our Terms, we record the date and time, the plan and terms shown to you, your language, and technical details such as your IP address and browser type, so we can show that consent was given.
- Learning data: lessons completed, quiz answers, practice minutes, streaks, badges and settings (such as language, daily goal and left-handed view).
- Band Plan: if you're on a Band Plan, the email addresses of the people the owner adds, and which plan they belong to.
- Newsletter: your email address and language, if you sign up.
- Technical data: our hosting provider automatically processes information such as IP addresses and request logs to deliver and secure the Service.
- First-party usage analytics: we count visits and record limited product and learning events, such as routes viewed, pricing viewed, exact lessons started or completed, tools used and practice minutes logged. We assign the browser a random identifier so we can understand funnels and return learning activity. It is not made from your email, IP address, browser details or a fingerprint, and it expires on a fixed schedule after six months.
- Attribution: we may keep the first and most recent campaign information that brought the browser to us, including UTM source, medium, campaign, content and term, referring website, landing page and a creator code in a tagged link. First-touch attribution is not overwritten. We may also record your browser-provided IANA time zone (such as America/Los_Angeles) to support future local-day analysis; we do not derive or store precise location for analytics.
- Account and billing analytics: after checkout or verified login, we may associate eligible earlier browser activity with a random internal account identifier and record checkout, subscription start and renewal, cancellation and payment-failure events. Stripe receives this internal identifier, the random browser identifier when analytics is enabled, and a bounded first/last attribution summary. The complete attribution record stays with us. Analytics events do not contain your email or full payment details, and Stripe Customer IDs remain in server-side account records.
How we use it
- To provide the Service, save your progress, and manage your membership and payments.
- To send service emails: login links, sign-up confirmations, renewal notices, yearly reminders, price-change notices and Band Plan invitations.
- To send lesson tips if you subscribed to them. You can unsubscribe anytime.
- To keep records required by law, prevent fraud, and keep the Service secure.
- To understand learning activation, lesson completion, feature use, funnels, campaigns and retention; to improve our lessons, website and sign-up process; and to fix problems.
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service, and only so they can do that work: Netlify (hosting and data storage), Stripe (payments and billing), Resend (email delivery, including the weekly tip if you sign up for it). We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or others' safety, or as part of a sale or transfer of the business, in which case this policy continues to protect it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we don't share it for targeted advertising.
The weekly tip
If you sign up for the weekly 12-string tip, we keep your email address, your language, where on the site you signed up, and which tips we have sent you. We use them only to send the tips. There are eight in the series, one a week, and they stop after the last one or as soon as you become a member. Every tip has a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.
Cookies and local storage
We use one essential cookie to keep you logged in. We use your browser's local storage to remember preferences and progress, and to store the random analytics identifier and first/last attribution described above. The analytics identifier has a fixed six-month lifetime and is not extended when you return. We also use a temporary session flag for the existing aggregate visit count. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we don't use third-party analytics tools. Our fonts are served from our own website.
If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, we do not create or use the browser analytics identifier, do not collect optional browser usage analytics, and remove the identifier and analytics attribution from browser storage where available. Necessary account, login, payment, subscription, fraud-prevention and consent records still operate independently.
How long we keep it
- Account and learning data: while your account exists, and for a reasonable time after you ask us to delete it, unless we must keep it longer.
- Consent records for automatic renewal: at least 3 years, or 1 year after your membership ends, whichever is longer.
- Billing records: as long as tax and accounting laws require.
- Raw analytics events, browser identifiers and attribution: up to 15 months. Anonymous daily totals may be kept longer.
Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), signed and time-limited login links, secure cookies and reputable providers. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep access to your email safe.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any of them. Service emails about your membership will still be sent while you're a member.
- Ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, or for a copy of it, by emailing . We'll respond within 45 days. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws, and we'll honor them as required.
- Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription. Please cancel first in Account > Cancel membership.
- We won't treat you differently for exercising your privacy rights.
Children
The Service isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
Where information is processed
We're based in the United States, and your information is processed in the United States.
Changes
We'll update the date above when this policy changes and notify members of significant changes.
